Test: Who’s our class hero? Female and Male divided: (Test for each of our heroic characteristics)
test for bravery and fearlessness: (plus trust in one another): falling backwards
test for humility and selflessness: Multiple Choice
test for strength: arm wrestling
test for righteousness:
The next day in court. A young girl will be a witness at your trial and after she testifies, you’ll get life in prison (you’re innocent). But if you murder the girl before she testifies, you’ll be set free. What would you do?
You and your son are prisoners at a concentration camp. Your son tried to escape but was recaptured and sentenced to hang at the gallows. To send a message to all others who may try to escape, the guard orders you to pull the chair out from under your son; if you refuse, the guard will kill your son and another innocent person in the camp. What do you do?
You’re involved in a two-car crash on your way to work one morning in which you accidentally hit and kill a pedestrian. As you get out of the car, you are intercepted by a tearful woman who seems to think that she hit and killed the pedestrian. You’re not sure why she thinks she hit the person, but she is convinced. There’s only you, the woman, and the person you hit on the road; there are no witnesses. You know that whoever is deemed responsible will probably be sent to jail. What do you do?
Discussion (w/ Pangier Perspective):
Where would you draw the line between heroism and villainy?
Inspiration? Who do you know personally that’s a hero? - use our characteristics
3. Beowulf thinks it better to avenge a friend than to mourn much - do you consider this heroic?
Call to action: Our test is not accurate. Just because you didn’t pass every test, doesn’t mean you’re not a hero. Just because the class heroes got passed the most tests, doesn’t necessarily make them a hero either. As we said before, if you apply your abilities in real life, do the right thing and make the world a better place one step at a time, you’ll be a hero. “Heroes are ordinary people who make themselves extraordinary.” ― Gerard Way
