freewriting sentence: It doesn’t really appeal to me, because when I first laid eyes on it, it looks messy and unorganized, but it’s useful for when you have to write an essay or a story for a certain subject, such as language arts.
4) stereotypical: lacking spontaneity or originality or individuality
novel sentence: "prejudice feeds on stereotypical views of cultural differences and on cultural bias" (Rosenberg, XIV).
stand alone sentence: A stereotypical geek wears glasses, high-waisted checkered pants and socks with sandals and always has some sort of technology or book in his hand.
freewriting sentence: Even though most writing structure is pretty stereotypical, always the same order, basically, if the writing itself is fine, it won’t really matter if the writing structure is the same.
Diary: He heard rumors about it and decided to see with his very own eyes how wrong they are, thus dressing up as a stereotypical ordinary traveler.
5) confront: oppose, as in hostility or a competition
Novel sentence: "Like the heroes of every culture, all people today confront choices that force them to reconcile their personal wishes with their responsibility to others" (Rosenberg, XIV).
stand alone sentence: Eventually, At my old school, I confronted the bullies and told them to stop and leave me alone.
freewriting sentence: They had to confront Troye in a war and if they survived, they would live peacefully on this island with their deserved glory, which would be preserved forever in the mind of Zeus.

stand alone sentence: Drinking water everyday is crucial to stay hydrated, otherwise you might suffer from dehydration that might lead to death.
freewriting sentence: The hook, in my opinion, it one of the most crucial parts of your writing.
Diary: Death and Rebirth is one of the most crucial parts of life, without one the other simply cannot exist
Essay: It may not be the key to success, but it’s definitely crucial in life.
10) arrogant: having or showing feelings of unwarranted importance out of overbearing pride

stand alone sentence: A lot of people at my old school only thought about themselves and were very arrogant.
freewriting sentence: These people were arrogantand did not respect their fellow mortals nor their gods.
Diary: King Lycaon was inhumane and arrogant, filled with vanity, greed and bestial thoughts.
Essay: Individuals can be kind or they can be mean and arrogant, but all of them have one thing in common: they all make mistakes.
novel sentence: "How can I reconcile myself to the inevitability of death?" (Rosenberg, XVI).
stand alone sentence: Everybody has to face the inevitabilty of pimples, hormones and moodswings, in other words: puberty.
freewriting sentence: How would you reconcile yourself to the inevitability of death?
Diary: They do the stupidest things, for they do not know how to reconcile to the inevitability of death.
12) possess: have as an attribute, knowledge, or skill
novel sentence: "Heroes are children of gods who have an unusual birth, possess extraordinary strength, kill monsters with the help of special weapons, embark on an arduous journey, descend into the Underworld as part of their tasks, and have an unusual death" (Rosenberg, XVI).
stand alone sentence: Every person possesses something that is really valuable to them and can’t stand to lose.
freewriting sentence: And to possess such writing skills is of much importance later, when we have to write our college applications for example.
Diary: We possessthe power to shape our own lives, to do whatever we want, whenever we want, so why hesitate?
13) extraordinary: beyond what is ordinary or usual; highly unusual or exceptional or remarkable
novel sentence: "Heroes are children of gods who have an unusual birth, possess extraordinary strength, kill monsters with the help of special weapons, embark on an arduous journey, descend into the Underworld as part of their tasks, and have an unusual death" (Rosenberg, XVI).
stand alone sentence: Daniel Radcliffe did an extraordinary job playing Harry Potter defeating Lord Voldemort in the final movie.
freewriting sentence: Then this extraordinary generation of heroes was created.
Diary: He served Zeus a platter of human sacrifice, which finally burst Zeus’ bubble, using his extraordinary power to turn King Lycaon into an animal with four legs, grey hairs, red eyes, a fierce face and the same bestial thoughts.
14) arduous: characterized by effort to the point of exhaustion; especially physical effort

15) journey: the act of traveling from one place to another

stand alone sentence: In the movie, Journey to the Mysterious Islands, the characters face a lot of different, dangerous obstacles.

16) emulate: strive to equal or match, especially by imitating

stand alone sentence: A lot of people out there, emulate their idols, because they’re fans and want to become just like them.
17) circumstances: your overall circumstances or condition in life (including everything that happens to you)
novel sentence: "Heroes are forced by circumstance to make critical choices where they must balance one set of values agianst competing values" (Rosenberg, XVII).
stand alone sentence: The Niseko trip was canceled due to severe circumstances.
18) flaunt: display proudly; act ostentatiously or pretentiously
novel sentence: "He survives his homecoming only because he masters his need to assert himself and flaunt his superiority" (Rosenberg, XVII).
stand alone sentence: People tend to flaunt their stuff, such as (I)phones and new gadgets.
freewriting sentence: When you have those skills, it’s easier to flaunt your writing towards colleges.
novel sentence: "Quetzalcoatl is outmatched when Tezcatlipoca preys upon his vanity" (Rosenberg, XVII).
stand alone sentence: Because of his vanity, he was the first to get killed.
freewriting sentence: The generation of mortals who are filled with arrogance, ignorance, vanity and ungratefulness.

20) perseverance: the act of persisting or persevering; continuing or repeating behavior
novel sentence: "We do this in our own lives whenever we attribute someone’s success primarily to luck instead of to individual courage, perseverance, and ability" (Rosenberg, XVII).
stand alone sentence: Because she had perseverance, she attained her goal of losing 10 pounds in a month.
freewriting sentence: People give up, because they can’t believe they can do it and that’s where perseverance come in.
